Back in Christchurch, New Zealand, I was always the friend with a café or restaurant recommendation ready – whether it was somewhere casual for brunch, a good dinner spot, or a place worth saving for a special occasion.
After recently moving to Western Sydney, I’m excited to explore new neighbourhoods and discover cafés, restaurants and cuisines along the way. Sydney’s food scene is incredibly diverse, and there’s always another place to try.
This website is where I’m building that recommendation list again. I’m planning to document the cafés, restaurants and local spots I genuinely enjoyed across Western Sydney and the wider Sydney area. Western Sydney in particular has some of the most exciting food in the city, and I’m slowly exploring it suburb by suburb.
Everything here is based on my own visits and honest experiences. If I recommend somewhere, it’s because I’d happily go back myself.

Every spot featured on Charlenie is carefully curated. I only write about places I genuinely enjoyed or found interesting, so you can trust that everything here is worth your time.
Not every place suits everyone, though, and your experience might differ depending on taste, mood, or whatever you’re looking for. I try to capture these nuances so you can decide what’s right for you.

I don’t use numerical ratings. Instead, I focus on helpful, honest descriptions that highlight what makes each place worth visiting. Even if a spot is smaller, niche, or unconventional, if I think it’s interesting or enjoyable, it earns a place here.
