How to Apply for a Vietnam eVisa
Planning a trip to Vietnam? Depending on your passport, you may need to apply for an eVisa before arrival.
After applying for one myself (and helping family with their applications too), here’s everything worth knowing before submitting your Vietnam eVisa application.
The Basics
- Cost: $25 USD for single entry, $50 USD for multiple entry
- When to apply: Up to 12 months in advance, 2 weeks before your trip at the latest.
- After applying: Search for your eVisa application here
Common Problems
If Your Plans Change
If your accommodation changes after submitting your application, there is no need to re-apply.
If your port of entry changes after submitting your application, there is no need to re-apply as long as you arrive at an approved port of entry.
Note: Visa dates are fixed. Leave a couple of buffer days before and after your flight in case of flight delays or itinerary changes.
Payment Problems
If your payment won’t go through on the website, don’t panic. Check your mobile banking app first before retrying the payment method. Try any of the following:
- Clear your cookies
- Go incognito
- Use a different internet browser
Note: You will have to fill in your visa application again. Make sure to double check your information each time!
Mistake on eVisa
If you notice a discrepancy between your eVisa and passport, I highly suggest you apply again (if time allows). I know it’s another $25-50 USD but if it’s discovered in immigration you will have to pay for another visa upon arrival, and it will cost more.
Unfortunately, I’m speaking from experience. Someone in our group forgot to put a space between his given names and he had to pay out of pocket. It also took an extra two hours for him to leave immigration. So don’t forget – double check your application before submitting!
Good To Know
- It can take 4-5 business days to issue the eVisa
- If you’re in a hurry, there are third party services that help you process your eVisa faster
