Jetstar Airways is a popular choice for budget travellers, thanks to its frequent sales and affordable fares. But when you’re flying on a budget airline, every extra dollar matters – especially when it comes to food onboard.
On a recent flight, we ended up with a handful of meal vouchers to use, which gave us the perfect excuse to try a range of snacks and light meals from the in-flight Economy menu. Here’s what we ordered, and which items are actually worth it.
Here’s what we tried from Jetstar’s in-flight menu, starting with the snacks.
Note: Prices and menu items may change over time. This review reflects what was available on our flight.
Good to know:
- Jetstar snacks are only available to buy in-flight
- Onboard purchases are card only
- Menu items are priced the same in AUD and NZD

Steak Pie + Beef Sausage
Price: $12 AUD/NZD
Verdict: The taste is good BUT it’s a messy eat. The flaky pastry will get everywhere, even if you’re careful.
Overall, the Jetstar in-flight food is a mixed bag. Snacks are super convenient but almost always come at a steep markup, so they’re only worth it if you’ve got vouchers to burn.
The light meals are more filling, tasty enough, and a smarter choice if you’re hungry on a long flight. If you’re getting the rolls, expect a bit of a mess, though!
