Tam Vi

Tam Vi is a popular restaurant in Hanoi serving Northern Vietnamese cuisine, known for being the cheapest Michelin-star restaurant. The experience is comfortable and nostalgic, with simple decor and home-style presentation that feels more like eating a family meal than dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant.
Stand-out Dishes & Drinks
- Banana flower and pig ear salad
- Green mango salad with dried tiny shrimp
- Braised beef with ginger
- Jasmine and lotus seed drink
Best For
- Introduction to North Vietnamese cuisine
- Trying a Michelin-starred restaurant without the fine-dining price tag
- Families and large groups
Good To Know
- Bookings are done through their Facebook page/official website
- Despite its Michelin star, expect traditional home-style Vietnamese cooking rather than a fine-dining experience

How far in advance did you make your reservations? What was the turnaround like?
I’m planning to visit Hanoi in September (hope the rain gods will take a break then) and definitely want to try this place!
The last time I was there was in 2008. I remember the lights went off at 23:00 nightly. Things there look so different now.
Hi Rodney!
I made my reservation on the 3rd of August for my dinner reservation on the 31st August 2025.
I messaged the restaurant on their official Facebook page and found that their response was prompt!
You can check out their official Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/nhahangtamvi
Hope this helps!
