Apps to Download before Your Vietnam Trip
Here is a list of apps that I downloaded for our trip in Vietnam. If you’re the planner of the group, I highly recommend having everyone else download these apps as much as possible (or give them this article!)
List of Apps
If you booked using Booking.com, having their app is super handy! Surprisingly, I used it a lot. I also booked airport shuttle through them, and I’ve managed to get full refunds with no problems. Their customer support is top notch (as long as you get a real person!)
- eSim
If you’re really hungry but the whole menu is in Vietnamese and only one person has Google Translate, things can get tense 😂 Don’t let just one person do all the translating please! Everyone should have this if you’re traveling to Vietnam.
Grab is the Uber of Vietnam. It’s not just for transport tho – we’ve used it to order food too! It’s easy to use and set up. I recommend connecting your debit/credit card to the app instead of paying by cash. Even better if you connect your Wise card (or something similar), that way you can avoid the foreign transaction fee!
I’m so silly. We booked several experiences through Klook but I didn’t download the app, so I had to keep opening my email with the attached QR code 😂. Learn from my mistakes and get the app for easy access on your tickets.

I highly recommend to download this app if you don’t already have it. Lots of businesses use WhatsApp, and I’ve done most of the booking for services through here. It’s also so handy to be able to message an establishment that we’ll running late because of traffic!
If you’re travelling overseas, you’ve probably heard of Wise! It’s got the best conversion fees out there and it’s easy to use. I have a Wise card, and I’ve been using that to withdraw cash!
➡️ Is using Wise worth it? (post coming soon!)
Converting from AUD to VND was very confusing at the start, so this app was very handy! It’s just a bit clunky using and not very intuitive. If you’ve used a currency converter, what app are you currently using? I’d love to know!
